Denmark and Germany
Linda had to visit the Dralion team in Berlin, so we decided to organize our vacations around that trip. We spent a week in Berlin and then rented a really cute small convertible, a Nissan Micra, and took off for Denmark, also hitting Hamburg and Lubeck in northern Germany.
What a trip! I really loved it. Germany offers a fantastic mix of old and modern architecture that is irresistible. Hamburg in particular won my heart with the port on the river Elbe right downtown, lots of canals, and Hafencity, an ongoing urban development project that is the largest ever undertaken in all of Europe. Made me feel like wanting to live there.
Denmark is also beautiful, with its rolling hills scattered with windmills and surrounded by the water. We explored the Jutland peninsula and the islands of Funen and Zealand. My favorite places were the medieval town of Ribe, the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, and, of course, Copenhagen.
