I am using dowels to register the position of the front pieces of the Dutch tool chest; it is an extra step, but I am convinced they more than make up for that time. I can shoot the ends of the pieces and plane the bevel and easily come back to check how they fit; finally, the dowels are great when glueing pieces that have no other joinery, so they do not slide around while I apply pressure with the clamps. #DutchToolChest #ToolChest #HandToolsOnly #Poplar #Woodworking
I am using the scrub plane to rough out the 30° bevel on the front piece of the Dutch tool chest; it gets the job done really fast and when I get close to my line, I switch to the jointer to finish it up. #DutchToolChest #ToolChest #HandToolsOnly #Poplar #Woodworking
Slowly making progress on the Dutch tool chest. The front pieces are up; they have a 1/4” bead framing the future drop front and a 30° bevel at the top to accomodate the lid. Now it is time to plane a board of rough Poplar to dimension the pieces for the back. #DutchToolChest #ToolChest #HandToolsOnly #Poplar #Woodworking
