I like to plow the grooves for the tray bottom after fitting the dovetail joinery; that way, if the top and/or bottom rim of the sides is not perfectly flush, I can correct it without ending up with a misaligned groove. Because I went with through dovetails, I decided to hide the groove behind the bottom tails and create a rabbet to protect those tails from the plow plane. #DutchToolChest #ToolChest #HandToolsOnly #Anigre #Woodworking
I am adding a divider to the chisels tray for the Dutch tool chest. It is dadoed into the long sides and will help reinforce them since they are only 3/8” thick. It also has grooves for the bottom so I can split that into two parts to make sure it does not sag. #DutchToolChest #ToolChest #HandToolsOnly #Anigre #Woodworking
Breaking a sweat resawing the Poplar left over from the construction of the Dutch tool chest so I can make the bottoms for the chisels tray and saw till. It looks like I am going to get one 3/8”-thick piece and a 1/2”-thick piece out of this 4/4 stock. #DutchToolChest #ToolChest #HandToolsOnly #Poplar #Woodworking
