I like to saw my dovetails clamping the board at an angle so that I am sawing straight down; I also like to always keep the waste to the left of the saw (I am a lefty), so I cut all the tails on one side and then I flip the board to cut the other side; I am not great with the saw so I will take all the help I can get :-) I also like to saw out the waste with a coping saw in two steps: cutting down the centre towards one corner and then following the bottom to the other corner; I do not like putting the coping saw in the existing kerf because I am afraid of damaging the tails while making the sharp turn to cut along the bottom. I love the figure and colors of this red cedar, but found working with it very frustrating; the end grain just crumbles away, even with a freshly sharpened chisel. By the end of the afternoon I managed to finish all the tails and fit one of the pins set; the fit is ok, not great, and I am now dreading the time when I will have to try and plane all the sides flush with the joinery. #WoodenBox #SharpeningStone #HandToolsOnly #RedCedar #woodworking
