I did not trust the soft pine apron of #TheEnglishWorkbench with the vise nut, so I decided to make a housing for it using a piece of 8/4 cherry. #handtoolsonly #workbench #woodworking
The vise block is hosted in a 1/4” deep slot cut into the front apron of #TheEnglishWorkbench. I had to do a bit of planing on the face of the block that is glued to the apron so that the vise screw is perpendicular to the apron. The whole thing now feels super solid. #handtoolsonly #workbench #woodworking
