I will be using sliding dovetails and angled rabbets in some of my upcoming projects, so I decided to make myself a couple of guides: one to saw the kerfs for the female part and one to pare the male with a chisel. I then tried cutting my first sliding dovetail joint and I was really very happy; you get perfect angles and you only have to pay attention to size. #WorkbenchAppliance #SlidingDovetail #HandToolsOnly #WhitePine #Poplar #Woodworking
I already had a friction board for planing extremely thin parts, but I decided to make myself a thin-stock planing board as well. I have been using 1" Baltic Birch plywood and Black Cherry for many of my appliances; I like the thick ledger dadoed into the bottom of the plywood board. For the planing fences, I went with a miter joint, but all of that is covered by the cauls I used for the glue-up. #PlaningBoard #WorkbenchAppliance #HandToolsOnly #Woodworking #BlackCherry #Cherry #BalticBirchPlywood
