I already had a friction board for planing extremely thin parts, but I decided to make myself a thin-stock planing board as well. I have been using 1" Baltic Birch plywood and Black Cherry for many of my appliances; I like the thick ledger dadoed into the bottom of the plywood board. For the planing fences, I went with a miter joint, but all of that is covered by the cauls I used for the glue-up. #PlaningBoard #WorkbenchAppliance #HandToolsOnly #Woodworking #BlackCherry #Cherry #BalticBirchPlywood
The planing board is ready for service! Normally, I use a Veritas planing stop with 1/4" clearance, but now I will be able to go down to just over 1/8" :-) #PlaningBoard #WorkbenchAppliance #HandToolsOnly #Woodworking #BlackCherry #Cherry #BalticBirchPlywood
Ripping a leftover piece of Poplar to make a bar gauge to check my projects for squareness by making sure the two diagonals are the same length. #BarGauge #WorkbenchAppliance #YellowPoplar #Poplar #HandToolsOnly #Woodworking
